A pic please!
I’ve mentioned before the random linens my grandmother gave me a few years ago. Well she has also given me a few pictures over the years. Mostly it consists of me begging for years before she hands things over mind you. First I wanted a pair of Paris pictures she’d had in her den for years. Upon receiving the Paris pics, I realized they were actual pen and ink drawings, not prints. The story is that her brother got them from a street vendor while stationed in Paris during WWII? The are quite amazing and one day I’ll post some pics of them.
Today however I want to talk about the ballerina pics, that happened to replace the Paris pics, she gave me a few years ago. The frames were pretty beat up and my mom had said she would get the pictures re-framed. Well a few years later the pictures had not been re-framed, I’d forgotten about them and they ended up in OK. When my mom came to town in September I asked her to bring my ballerina pics back. She did and I was then left with a couple of prints.
I did some research and they are apparently pretty run of the mill old prints. I can’t remember the company at this point but I’m assuming they probably aren’t that special. Anyhoo, not the point because over the weekend Matt and I ran to Michael’s to buy a couple of frames. I found couple I thought I liked and they were 50% off, except they were more expensive then I realized. Oops. So I get the frames home and realize the prints don’t fit. Hmmm. I got 11×14 frames but my prints seem to be a bit short. About an inch really. And yep they are 11×13. Dammit.
So after spending the whole night dreaming about what to do I decided to take the frames back and start over. I thought about having custom mattes cut and I thought about having custom frames made but I wasn’t sure. Well those ideas were out out once I realized the frame shop was closed on Sunday. Back to Michael’s it was. After returning the frames, I walked back to the frames, prints in hand. I spent about 30 minutes wondering around before I finally choose my frames. I wanted something more traditional and “old” feeling but I was also worried that getting a 11×14 frame with a matte wouldn’t work either. I decided to take my chances and I purchased my new frames, which were buy one get one free! Score!
I got home and put my prints into their new frames and can I just say I am completely blown away? They look AMAZING! Like had I had them custom, I don’t think they could have possibly looked any better then they do now. Forgive the crappy cell phone pics.

Our First Fire
Of the season! YAY! Today is one of those cold, yucky, fall days that just begs for you to come home and cuddle on the couch and start a fire!
I love having a fireplace. Even as I sit here Julio continues to think he should try and put his head and tootsies in the fireplace. Crazy cat! I’m not sure why he doesn’t understand it’s hot. We had this issue with him last year as well but he was just a kitten back then. He’s not a little cat anymore.
Happy Friday

Drives like a dream
Okay I promise this will be the last car post for a while. 😉
Today I got to drive the new car to work and let me just say it’s pretty awesome. The handling is amazing and I love Love LOVE the panoramic sunroof. Plus I think it really looks more like a Kelly car and less like a Matte car, hehe! I know it will be mine soon enough but still. It’s a really really nice car.
When Matt and I decided to buy a new car for him the agreement was it would be mine once we have kids or when the Jetta lease is up. The lease on the Jetta will be up next year so either way I’ll get the Q5 and then Matt will trade the Jetta for something a bit more sporty. Actually he’s already started looking for the next “new car”.
I’ve come to realize I’ve married a “car” guy. While I would and could be content with whatever (as long as it’s not a POS) Matt will definitely not be satisfied with your run of the mill car. And honestly I think I’m fine with that. I mean if I will be able to stay at home with our kid(s) then I think he can have a nice fun car.
And in unrelated news while my shingles rash appears to be getting better my body aches seem to be getting worse. Today I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck. My whole body aches and it sore to the touch. I don’t know if this is related to the shingles or if perhaps I’m not sleeping as well. I don’t know. If anyone has had shingles please shed some light on what I’m going through.

It’s here!
Yay! Our new car is finally here! Matt and I are currently waiting to fill out the paperwork and then we will be on our way home.

Shingles, not on the roof
That’s right apparently I have shingles. WTF?!?!?! Friday night Matt and I were sitting around watching a movie when I noticed a little patch of bumps on my back/side. I freaked out and made him put itch cream on it immediately. Saturday morning it didn’t look much better so we continued to put stuff on it. And by Sunday there was still no change. I texted my cousin who’s a nurse to see if she could tell me what it was. After a few questions she told me it looked pretty bad and I should go to the doctor.
This morning on my way to work I called to see if the doctor could see me. The girl said they had an appointment in 15 minutes if I could make it. I told her I was on my way. I start talking to the doctor and I mention that one of my friends said I might have shingles, he goes, “I think that’s what it is.” AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Apparently it is the same virus as chicken pox and once you have chicken pox it stays in your system. I guess stress and stuff can cause it to come back. GRR! Oh and it’s supposed to be very painful. Great.
I went to pick up my meds and headed to work since the doc said I wasn’t contagious. I guess sitting in my chair at my desk made my back really start to hurt and of course I began to freak out. After a little “episode” in the breakroom (ie I almost passed out) I decided to go home. I feel like it was probably more in my head but the meds say they can make you a little dizzy. I’ve been sleeping most of the day and now I’m just waiting for Matt to get home and take care of me. 🙂 I’m also debating getting the pain meds filled that the doc gave me. Sitting seems to bother my back more then anything. Even just sitting on the couch.
I hope the meds start to work soon because I am not diggin’ the shingles. I’m still young, I should NOT have this. 🙁

Our new car
Is somewhere between Georgia and here. It arrived at port in Georgia this past Sunday. We know the cars are starting to arrive since our Sales guy’s car came in on Wednesday. Now we are just waiting. Matt saw our car twin in his parking lot today with the 30 day dealer tags so we know it just arrived. It was our exact car but it had the light grey interior. We got black.
Dear Car, please hurry up and get here! We are ready to bring you home!
~And on a completely different note, my hair did not turn out exactly as I had planned. It is a little darker then expected and kind of red. Hmmmm. Looks like there will be a re-done next weekend.

Back to blonde
Okay so I’ve always been blonde but last year I convinced Matt that I needed to start highlighting my hair. I’d always wanted to get highlights and he didn’t really care. So for about a year now I’ve been getting highlights every 2 months or so. I like that my hair has more depth and color but it still kind of throws me to see random brown hair.
Matt and I started talking about having a baby and I quickly realized I wouldn’t be able to continue to get highlights and be a stay at home mom. I knew the time would come that I would have to start coloring my hair myself again. And honestly, while I like the girl that cuts and colors my hair, I’m not super crazy about the cut or color. I feel like my cuts are more of an after thought and I am pretty picky about my hair cut.
A few months ago we were out grabbing some Chinese food down the street from the house and I noticed a really cute salon a few doors down. I found their website and decided I wanted to try the place out. My hair color finally started to look pretty dingy so last night I ran to Target to buy some hair color and made an appointment at this new salon. I HOPE they do a good job. But this also brings me back to blonde. I am currently sitting here with hair color in my hair. In about 3 more minutes it will be ready and I will be all over blonde again. Let’s hope I like it. 😉

Christmas cards anyone
Over the weekend I ordered our Christmas cards! EEEKK! I am super excited about our first married Christmas cards. I looked around at several places and I finally decided on Vista Print. If you don’t know what Vista Print is I suggest you click on the link above.
When I was planning our wedding tons of girls on the wedding boards talked about VP and what great deals you could get. I decided to check it out and I must say the website is a little hard to navigate but the deals are amazing. Plus you can always find free stuff. I’ve found it’s easier to just search for what you are looking for. I used VP for our save the date magnets and a few other things. I know their quality is good and the prices are well, unbeatable. They are constantly sending me coupons and Internet searches always turn up coupons as well.
After searching I finally found like 10 designs I like for Christmas card ideas. Next I picked out a couple of pics of me and Matt and then I played around until I decided on two. That’s right there will be not one but TWO different Christmas cards that go out this year! Woooo Hooo! I might post pics of them once they arrive. We’ll see.

You’re not a young buck anymore!
Yesterday Matt and I were sitting around watching tv when I got a phone call from my mom. Her and my dad went to MS for a few days to visit some family and friends. I had talked to her a few times while they were gone so I didn’t think much of her calling. I answer the phone and she’s like I just wanted to call and tell you we are at the ER. My first thought is something happened with my grandmother. But no mom tells me it’s my dad and she starts laughing as she recounts what happened. Apparently while she was at her aunt’s house, my dad decided to try and ride our family friend’s horse. Mind you the horse is not broken and dad is no longer 18 (contrary to his belief).
According to the story I got today, dad got on the horse walked him around and them BAM! Horse throws him off, (I might make a photoshop for this), and then walks back over to him and nudges him. HAHA! Dad brushed himself off and went to the main house. I guess Cindy, our family friend, helped him clean up his arm but he didn’t tell her he was in a good deal of pain. A few hours later mom calls to say she is on her way back. She can tell something is wrong and daddy tells her what he did. Once mom gets back to the house they decide to go to the ER.
It must be said this is NOT daddy’s first trip to the Macon ER. We used to live in Macon and I can remember a time or two going for various things he did. It must also be said that this is probably not really the place you want to go. It’s a small town and well…..yeah. 😉
Anyway they go to the ER and the doctors decide to do a cat scan. They want to make sure he hasn’t punctured or ruptured something. Once the scan comes back they can tell everything looks okay with the exception of 3 ribs. Those are broken. They give my dad some pain killers and send him home.
This morning he was pretty sore and still in pain but he and mom decided to head back to OK. They were going to take it easy and see how far they could go. I called mom after work and they were just outside of Dallas so they were going to try and make it home tonight.

New faucets
I know I mentioned last week that we bought new faucets and even changed a few out but I haven’t posted pics. So here goes. But first let me just say:
Dear Plumber, while I appreciate the fact that you took pride in your work, for the love of god why did you make all the fittings so damn tight?!?!?!? Seriously as a woman there was no way I was going to get these fittings off. Next time please remember not so tight!
For real though, I replaced the faucet in my townhouse all by myself. But when I tried to replace the ones in our house, faaaagaahda about it! {Best Jersey accent} Poor Matt had to help me replace all of them. And we still have one more to go.
Here is a pic of the before faucet.
As you can see it was boring and blah. All the bathroom faucets were the same.
This is the new faucet for our downstairs bathroom. Since this bathroom is on the main floor I decided I wanted something a little “fancier”. Matt and I both liked this one and it was pretty reasonably priced.
This the faucet we got for the rest of the bathrooms, so ours and our guest bathroom upstairs. They are simple and sleek and they were really inexpensive. 😉
Happy Friday!
