The day Mr. Julio almost got a kitten
Yesterday morning started off just like any other day until I got to work. A coworker was in the elevator with me and as soon as we were on our floor she asked if I wanted a kitten. Duh! Of COURSE I want a kitten! She proceeded to tell me her boyfriend found the kitten in the back of a tractor trailer at his work. She had accidentally been shipped from South Carolina and had been in the truck for 3 days without food or water. As my heart is breaking, I tell her to email me a few pics. I will need to talk to my husband.
I immediately forward the emails with pics to Matt. He never responds, but I also know he is busy, so I don’t push. Around lunch time we are chatting and I mention the cat again. He finally responds with “fine you can get the kitten but there is no more ‘fun’ money until her vet bills are paid.” WHAT!?!? He actually said Yes! Woo hoo!
Thankfully I’d heard from another coworker that the kitten had found a good home so I knew she wasn’t available when I asked Matt again. I finally told him she’d found a good home, which made me happy. I mean if it came down to it, she would now be living at our house. I just couldn’t stand the idea of her going without food or water for days and then not finding a good home.
I do have a feeling that Mr. Julio is going to end up with a kitten sooner rather than later. I want him to have a friend before he gets too old. He is so social I don’t know what he’ll do once Hal is gone. So the next “free” kitten might just end up at our house. 😉

It’s sleeting it’s snowing, it’s a slushy disaster
Last week I went to the doctor and he discovered I had a minor issue caused by my first surgery. Since we wanted to get this taken care of as soon as possible, they were able to squeeze me in yesterday. We were told this procedure would take about 10 mins and they would use a milder sedation.
Matt and I arrived at the surgery center around 9am. By 9:30 I was back in pre-op going over the necessary information, getting an IV, and waiting until the doctor arrived. I asked the nurse if he was running on schedule and she said I was his first appt so who knew. Around 11:00 she said he was running late, shocker, and it would be about 11:30 before we got started. Matt and I chuckled a little knowing he is always late. We were pretty surprised when he popped his head in a few minutes later. The OR nurses came to get me and by 11:15 I was headed to the OR.
I was much less groggy when I woke up this time. The nurse asked me a few questions and then sent someone to get Matt. I finally asked him what time it was and he told me 1:30. What should have been a 10 min procedure took about an hour and a half. There were other issues from the last surgery he found which caused the procedure to run longer. I felt relatively well considering and the nurse said once I got dressed we could leave.
We got home around 2:00 and Matt got me settled on the couch. Then he ran to get my meds. I spent most of the night lying on the couch. Unfortunately I felt more nauseous this time which kind of sucked. I went to bed early knowing I would probably just work from home today. The weather report was calling a wintry mix. Plus the nurses said I couldn’t shower for 24 hours. No way I was going to work unshowered. Nor was I going to risk driving on ice on pain killers.
This morning Matt and I got up and set up shop downstairs. He decided to work from home as well because our new TV was being delivered. Thankfully the delivery guy got here about 9 because around 10:30 it started sleeting and then it turned to snow for a while. About noon it stopped snowing and starting with the freezing rain. Matt ran out to grab some lunch before the roads got too bad and then salted the driveway. Now our pretty snow-covered street is a slush filled disaster. I was really looking forward to snow but per doctor’s orders there would be no sledding for me even if we got snow. 🙁
Oh, I forgot mention I got a sled last weekend? I got a sled last weekend at Target for $5.00. Woo hoo!
Also Mr. Julio has been a great, yet needy, coworker today.

Daily Dose of Cute
This week has flown by. I am really surprised Friday is just a few hours away. Not that I am complaining. It’s definitely better than when a day or week drags. Anyway, I haven’t done much this week so I’m gonna just post a cute pic of Julio.

Happy Birthday
Mr Julio! Today is the day we assume you were born so that makes you officially 2 years old.
I can’t believe it’s almost been 2 years since we got Julio. He is such a fun little guy and adds so much to our family. Even though he still annoys the hell out of Hal I think she really does tolerate him. 😉

Our First Fire
Of the season! YAY! Today is one of those cold, yucky, fall days that just begs for you to come home and cuddle on the couch and start a fire!
I love having a fireplace. Even as I sit here Julio continues to think he should try and put his head and tootsies in the fireplace. Crazy cat! I’m not sure why he doesn’t understand it’s hot. We had this issue with him last year as well but he was just a kitten back then. He’s not a little cat anymore.
Happy Friday

Foto Friday – Week 1
It’s finally here people Foto Friday! WOO HOO! I know you have been anxiously waiting all week! 😉 I’m been anxiously waiting for this week to end!
As you can see Basil and Sweet Mint don’t look so hot. Thankfully the deli we went to for lunch had basil out front and it kind of looked the same as mine so I’ll run with it for now. Lots of water daily!
Close up.
Our deck light. A little editing to make it look prettier.
Last but not least, Mr Julio. I really like how this pic came out.
So folks that is your first Foto Friday. I promise to try and get better.
Happy weekend!
