  • Bad blog? :(

I just want to apologize for the state of this blog. The last few days I’ve been going through my posts from the old blog and man, those are much much better. Maybe it was because I had the wedding to plan for or maybe it was because I was writing at work. I think it was because I was writing at work. My composition really seems to have gone downhill blogging from home. Once I get home I am pretty much D.O.N.E.

With that I promise to try a little harder. I would really like the blog to be better and more interesting to read.

  • New carpet…

You bet your ass! YAY! We just met with the guy from Empire and our new carpet will be installed on MONDAY!!!!!!! Woo hoo! Clearly I am really more excited then one should be for carpet but I’ve been waiting for this for months now.

About 2 weeks ago we had Lowes come and give us an estimate. It was a little higher then I thought it would be so we decided to keep looking. Since we have a Costco membership I emailed in to have a consultation. Well the lady called me yesterday only to inform me she was “full the rest of this week, on vacation next so it will have to be mid July”. Oh and she cant do afternoons because of her kids. Are you kidding?!?! I tell her I’ll have to talk to my husband and call her back. At this point I’m pretty pissed off, like I’m ready to get this show on the road, so as I’m chatting with Matt he tells me to call Empire. I look on their site and see that I can schedule online, for the next day! Done!

I might have forgotten the guy was coming today, oopsy. Good thing Matt left work a little early because the guy shows up promptly at 5:00. I head home and figure it will take him a few minutes to measure the house. I get home just as he’s finishing up so we sit down and start discussing carpet options. He shows us the the full line and I have him quote us the bottom of the line and the middle one. I am shocked when he hands over the quote. He is almost 500.00 cheaper then lowes on the midgrade carpet. Umm, done! I pick a color, fill out the paperwork and in 10 minutes we are set for new carpet install on Monday!

I am so ready to get this stupid old crappy carpet out of our house. I cannot wait to see the new carpet. I think it will look and feel great! And I finally got my work laptop today so it was a pretty good day. 🙂

  • Update

Today has gone pretty good so far. I am on track to stay right at my 1000 calorie goal. I haven’t had dinner but there is nothing but grilled chicken and salad in my future. I’m not going to lie, I’ve dropped down to 1200 before but never any lower. It’s hard. You don’t realize how much you eat until you count calories. With that being said I can totally do this for 10 days. It’s a short manageable goal. I even worked out with weights today. Watch out!

In other news I finally broke down and bought Fifty Shades of Grey last night. I haven’t started yet but for $10.00 it better be good dammit! Not to mention I’m a little pissed I even bought it. I hadn’t planned to jump on the band wagon.

  • 10 lbs in 10 days

The other day yahoo had an article on how a celebrity trainer helps her clients lose 10 lbs in 10 days. So I thought hmmmm I could stick with something for 10 days right? I think I can totally do this but it will require cutting my daily calorie intake down to 1000 or less a day. There is also a workout routine that I might try to follow but I think the work out part might kill me. :). Cutting calories is something I will so every so often. For me this is really the best and easiest way to lose weight.

I went to the grocery today and picked up a few healthier items to add to the salads I will probably end up eating. But I also grabbed some fruits and low cal snacks. My realistic goal for this whole crazy thing is 5 – 7 lbs in 10 days. If I lose 10 that would be great but I would really excited with 7.

The other week when I moved desks I found an old notebook that was pretty much filled with my daily food and the calorie count. This time I think I’ll try to find an app to download. That will probably be a little more accurate. I’ve decided to blog my progress for the next 10 days, maybe not everyday bit enough to keep track of how it’s going so starting tomorrow the calories are getting kicked to the curb. Stay tuned……

  • Look at this face!

The other night Julio was sleeping with his eyes open. He was O.U.T! I take every opportunity to take his pic when he is being cute but most of the time he’s never that out of it and he will move. The other night though he was exhausted apparently because he didn’t even flintch when I took the pic.

  • This ain’t a fashion blog!

But every now and then I actually have fashion stuff so here goes.

Last weekend Matt and I went to his parents house to the beach. I mentioned his cousin Emma was in town, well as we were leaving his dad wanted a few pics of the 3 of us. Later his mom posted the pics on fb. After seeing those pics I decided I wasn’t really digging my long hair. Now mind you I’ve been growing it since before the wedding but seeing made me realize I was ready for a change. Not a huge change but a change so I made a hair appt for Saturday. When I got the salon I showed the girl a pic and told her to cut it. Aside from my bangs being just a tad too short I am really happy. The length feels good and I think it looks pretty cute. I also think it makes me look younger, though I’m not sure that’s on the plus side. 😉 ( posting from my iPad so the pic is at the bottom.)

I also wanted to share a little makeup tip since I’m fashion blogging today. A while back a blog I follow on twitter mentioned she was using Olay total effects 7 moisturizer. A little research said it was suppose to improve your skin tone. Well I have pretty crappy skin tone so I love to try things that might help to even it out. I even switched to Clinique’s even better foundation. (Matt wasn’t having the $80.00 for a bottle of the even better serum so this was the next best thing.) The foundation was just a tad heavier then I really wanted for summer and while we were in NYC I decided to compare that with my Bare Minerals. I decided I was digging the Clinique but I wanted it a little lighter so I added some of my Olay total effects to the foundation and blended them on my skin……ahhh perfection. It adds just the right coverage without feeling to heavy. I finish with my BM mineral veil powder to set the look. For me this is a great solution plus I am tone correcting. And to be honest I do feel like my skin tone looks a little more even in the few weeks I’ve been doing this.

I would definitely recommend both products to anyone looking for a change or those who might need a little tone correcting.

  • Changes

I feel like life has been busy and boring all at the same time. This weekend Matt and I headed to the beach to spend some time with his cousin Emma who is visiting from London. The girls had a nice day on the beach while the guys played golf. I actually got some sun. While we were on our cruise I tried hard not to get burnt fearing I would have to stay out of the sun for the rest of the trip but this I said to hell with it. I only got a little toasty considering we stayed out from 11 – 4. But man I really needed some color!

Work has been crazy busy the last few days because of some changes, good changes actually. My manager took another position and my group was absorbed into another group. Now I will no longer be doing the things I didn’t like and will be able to focus more on the stuff I did like. It seems this new change might be pretty good. I wasn’t so sure last week but having met with the new folks makes me excited.

Crazy the difference a few days can make.

  • Best husband award

Goes to my husband. I came home today and there was anew iPad on the counter waiting for me! Yay! Over the past few weeks I’ve started mentioning I might like an iPad, not a new one but a refurb would be fine. Matt got one for Christmas and we have the HP touchpad, which is okay but I can’t sync all my apps. Anyway the plan had been to wait until my laptop died before I would get an iPad but lately I have been using my phone for almost everything but blogging. It’s so big and bulky and I will go days without even opening it. That’s when when I decided to jump on the iPad bandwagon. And now I have a cute white iPad with a bright green cover. 🙂

  • If the Zombies come

I feel like I should be prepared, you know to run for my life. I mentioned I was back on the work-out wagon. My goal, run 1 mile and not die! I’ve decided a good pace is between 4.5 and 5.0 miles per hour. I know it’s slow but it’s something. Today I managed to go .75 at that rate! Wooo Hooo! I figure if I can run a mile hopefully I can survive a Zombie attack. 😉

Watch out Zombies, I’m getting in shape!

  • From drab to FAB!

I mentioned that Matt and I went to Southpoint on Saturday.  After lunch we headed towards the mall part, it’s kind of an indoor outdoor mall, but I wanted to stop by Anthropolgie on the way in.  It’s super pricey and I never even look at the clothes but I do like to look at the random housewares.   As I was browsing I noticed 2 big shelves full of knobs.  Oh heck yeah!  There’s a desk in our foyer I’ve been planning to refinish but I wanted to find new knobs.

Anyway I probably stood there looking at all the knobs for about 10 minutes.  I asked Matt about a couple but he wasn’t very helpful.  Then he noticed there were a few buckets of clearance knobs.  These knobs were all 3.00 a piece instead of  8.00 – 10.00 for the regular ones.  Don’t get me wrong 8-10 bucks a knob isn’t bad but for 3.00 a piece I could get 4 knobs for the price of two and don’tcha know that’s exactly what I did. 🙂  I found 2 sets I really liked but I couldn’t choose so I bought both.

Thankfully I am a procrastinator and I didn’t want to paint my desk last weekend because it was too hot.  Well this weekend was amazing and a bit cooler so Sunday morning afternoon I started working on the desk.  First  I sanded the top and sides with my mouse sander.  Then I grabbed some course grit sand paper and began working on the legs.  Legs are such a pain when they are spindley.  Since I was going to paint the desk I knew I didn’t have to do a great job with the sanding.  I just needed to knock the varnish off.

I spent about 45 minutes sanding down my desk before I decided it was good.  I picked out a bright blue paint so I wanted to make the piece look distressed and old.  As I started painting on the top I found if I did a light enough coat I could almost dry brush the paint on.  This was kind of giving me the effect I wanted so I continued.  As the paint dried I touched up a few spots here and there but over all I think it turned out pretty good and I didn’t have to use any sandpaper to the finished paint job.  🙂
