  • Happy Birthday Matte!

Last Sunday was Matt’s 35th birthday!  Ahhhh!  He’s getting old! 😉

Since he checks the bank account daily I told him on Wednesday of that week that he could no longer look at the bank account.  It’d be nice to be able to buy his gifts without him knowing what I got.  He’s been playing golf a lot lately with one of Patrick’s friends and has started collecting golf course poker chips.  While I was at Michael’s a few weeks ago I found a coin display box so I picked that up.  I figured that would be better than poker chips laying all over the counter.  Then I had to decide on a big gift for him.  I feel like lately we’ve spent a lot of money on me and I wanted to do something nice for him.

For his big gift I debated over a few things.  In the end, Golfsmith didn’t have the thing I thought I’d buy, a range finder.  With that taken care of, I headed back to the golf clubs.  He’d been eyeing one and I knew where it was.  Ya’ll this is key.  I kind of knew what it looked like.  I didn’t actually know what it was.  I knew he had the big one, and I knew he had a hybrid.  I ended up asking a sales guy for help.  I explained what I was doing and what I thought I needed.  As it turned out, the one I picked up randomly was the one the guy thought he probably needed.  (You see how bad this is right?)

What was more exciting was the fact that this club was on sale.  🙂  So I get to the checkout counter and the club doesn’t ring up as the sale price.  I tell the cashier the sign says X amount.  He asks someone else who agrees it should be on sale.  Then someone notices that this club is a Tour model.  I like at him and I’m like “I have no idea what that means.”  Just as this is happening the guy who helped me walks up front and verifies the price should be the sale price X.  Woo hoo!  I pay and ask for a box.

Now that day I was in Matt’s car so yeah.  Golf club + box + small ass car don’t mix.  I end up having to stick it in the backseat.  I get home, send Matt downstairs and stash the club under the guest bed.

Sunday morning I wake up early to wrap his gifts and a little while later he gets to open his presents.  He opened his golf club and lo and behold, I got the right damn one!  What!!!!  HAHA!  So I’m super excited that I’ve managed to actually buy him the right golf club.  But what’s even better is I beat Golfsmith!  Matt said he never bought the Tour models because they were never on sale, or not as much. Hehe!  So I scored the best model for the sale price of the regular one.  This meant it was like $100.00 off.  😀

After presents we got up and got ready and headed to brunch.  Then we came home and I made homemade carrot cake.  And that, in a nut shell (or really long post) was Matt’s birthday!

    Love ya hon!

  • Busy busy busy

I promise I have NOT forgotten about the blog.  Work has been crazy busy these past few weeks.  The good thing is I think I might have positioned myself to be able to move to a new position at some point soon.  I’ve been working on a major migration plan that includes many top level people.  It seems as though they have taken notice that I really know my stuff.  Hopefully good things will come soon!

Not only has work been crazy busy but I photographed a wedding on Saturday and Matt’s birthday was Sunday.  I want to make sure I give both events proper coverage so I will write separate posts about both this weekend.  I might even include a few wedding teasers.  I posted a few on FB but I will also post a few here as well.

    Happy Friday!

  • A little shout out!

I decided to send a friend a little gift a week or so ago and I looked and looked for the right thing to send. In the end I settled on a Red Carnelian necklace. This stone has a special meaning and I thought it would be perfect for her. I searched high and low looking for just the right one when I came across Esty dealer PortsofCall. Robin was AMAZING to work with. I messaged her to see if a chain could be included since the item was going to be a gift. She happily met my request saying she would include a necklace free of charge if I bought an additional pendant. Seeing as she had some amazing pieces I thought that was a great deal and picked out an Amazonite Gemstone for myself.

Last week when my order arrived I was shocked to see not only did she send my pendant but she included a silver chain AND a Dichroic Glass Pendant Bead. I could not be more pleased with my experience with Robin and her shop!!!! If you are looking for natural stone jewelry you should definitely check out PortsofCall! Oh and her prices are amazing!

During my wedding planning I heard numerous girls talk about the wonderful sellers they had encountered on Etsy but until I dealt with Robin, I had not had one of those experiences. I will definitely purchase more items from her in the future!

  • Thanks eBay!

A month or so ago Matt and I were in Banana Republic when I saw this adorable necklace. The price tag of $59.50 was also adorable. Not! So a few weeks ago I decided to see if I could find a knock-off online. After a few searches I finally found the same necklace but in different colors and for a more reasonable price of $25.00 with shipping. Heck yeah!

About 2 weeks ago I realized the estimated shipping date had passed and still no necklace. I knew it was shipping from China and I had a tracking number but I couldn’t find any shipping service that the tracking number worked with. I decided to email the seller just to make sure my package hadn’t been delivered to the wrong address. She promptly responded and said it would be a few more days before the necklace would likely arrive. She also included a tracking link. By this time the necklace was in New Jersey so I felt good.

I had a pretty crappy past few days so I was pretty happy when Matt got the delivery notice in the mail on Friday. We had missed the package and would have to pick it up from the post office. Saturday morning we ran by and picked it up. The box was wrapped in plastic and then covered in clear tape. No way in hell I was getting in that sucker till we got home.

I was really surprised once I got the tape and plastic off to see my necklace was in a cute purple glittery jewelry box. When I opened it I found the necklace had been wrapped in bubble wrap and each individual medallion had been wrapped as well. Needless to say it took awhile to get everything off of it. I must say I am super happy with the necklace and the seller. 🙂

  • Long Weekend!

Thanks to my company’s challenge last month to average 20 hours of exercise in July, I had Friday off as well as Monday!  What a nice long weekend.  Unfortunately there wasn’t much sleeping in.  Friday I woke up with Matt getting ready, Saturday was the first football game, Sunday I had a photo shoot, and Monday we had the parents over – but really I just couldn’t sleep. Ugh!

The football game was good and both NC State and Auburn pulled out wins.  The State game was at noon though and OMG it was H O T!!!!  Thankfully our seats get some shade but by halftime I was done.  State had a good lead and well, I wanted a shower and not to die of heat stroke.

Sunday I had a photo shoot for a friend’s little girl.  She did pretty well for a 1 yr old and I think I got a few cute pics.  Again though it turned out to be pretty hot so I’m glad we met early.  Matt played golf in the afternoon and ended up getting rained out.  About 6pm a storm rolled through and the bottom fell out.  I finally texted Matt and told him I didn’t think they could wait it out.  He replied that he was on his way home.  It was so bad that we couldn’t even run out to grab food.  🙁

Yesterday we invited my parents over since Matt’s parents were stopping in for the night (they are headed on a road trip across country).  The day went really well and everyone had a nice time.  Matt grilled burgers and corn and everything tasted great.  I made a carrot cake so now we have leftovers.  YUM!

That was pretty much our weekend in a nutshell.

(Can I just say I’m really glad it’s another short week?)
