  • My favorite season!

Have I mentioned how excited I am for college football?  No?  Really?  Weird because I LOVE college football.  This past weekend kicked off the 2012-2013 season.  Unfortunately both our teams, Auburn and NC State lost.  Matt and I thought about going to the games since they were being played on Friday and Saturday in ATL but after watching the games, I have to admit I’m glad we didn’t spend the money.  I would have been pissed had we gone and both teams lost!  Booo!

I am also really excited for tailgating.  Matt and I have season tickets to NC State but the first home game is another week away.  The home schedule isn’t that great this year but since Mom and Dad will be moving back in a few weeks I’m hoping we can get a few extra tickets and them then and my cousin from Greensboro and her husband to a game.  I’m not sure mom and Krissy will totally but up for a game but I think we could get them to tailgate for a while.  I know the guys would be down for a game though.

With football season comes fall.  I’ve always thought spring was my favorite season but I am becoming increasingly more intrigued with fall.  Cool crisp fall mornings and days, boots and sweaters, brightly colored leaves.  Ahh!  All the good things.  🙂

  • Road Trippin’ – Julio’s first trip

After work I got home and Matt and I packed our things. Once we were ready to leave I grabbed the kiddos and put them in their carriers. In the house they were okay but as Matt was strapping Julio into the car they both got a little upset. For the next half hour or so Julio talked more then we’ve ever heard. I expected Hal to be loud and I think she got Julio in a panic. Then he started trying to bite his way out of the carrier. Grr! I kept reaching back and popping the carrier telling him no! Finally once we got on the highway and got kind of settled in they calmed down. We would hear the occasional “meow” but nothing crazy. Of course I figured as soon as we would get them settled we’d have to stop.

We stopped and they both perked up but as soon as we were on the road again they settled back down. I was really really impressed with how well both of them did.

Once we got to the house we got them set up in the bedroom. Hal, of course, headed for under the bed but Julio was up for the adventure. It took him a few minutes to get down the stairs but he was good as long as Matt or I was around. He finally found the sunroom and he was in love. He stayed there most of the trip.

I must admit I was a little worried what Julio would do while we were sleeping. I mean the house was full of possible toys. He managed to find some feathers in the arrangement by the computer and those ended up in our bed. Thankfully it wasn’t destroyed and that’s really the only damage he did. Whew!

The car ride home was better for Julio. I think he knew what to expect and Hal didn’t freak him out. Thank god because she was terrible on the ride back. She cried for probably the first hour. At one point Julio looked at me and you could tell he was so tired but I think Hal was keeping him awake. Poor guy. Anyway, they both fared just fine. Julio was exhausted when we got home.

  • BEACH BOUND!

Matt and I are heading to the beach for a nice long weekend.  We’ve decided to take the kiddos so the ride down should be interesting.   I know Julio is going to have a blast at the grandparents house.  Lots of new stuff to get in to. 🙂  I’m just hoping for some sun because my pasty pale tail needs some. BAD!

    Happy Labor Day!

  • Just stir the pot….

Some people just don’t know when to leave well enough alone.

Its super annoying to think something is over only to get a random text or email just stirring the pot. Ugh!  Like I don’t have enough stuff going on with out unwarranted drama. I’m not in high school anymore, nor do I care to associate with people who act like that. Put your big girl panties on and grow the eff up!

  • I love to bake!

I know I’ve said this before but I really do! I found a recipe for crusty bread on pinterest last week. Matt and I love bread but he really loves crusty bread. We’re talking 3 ingredients, about 2 minute prep time, and 12 – 18 hours of waiting. The most time consuming part is waiting for my pan to heat up in the oven.

Yesterday we ran to Costco and Matt saw a package of yeast while we were there. That was the only (and most important) ingredient I was missing. We picked it up and when we got home I mixed everything together. I was a little over zealous and made the dough early so mines been sitting for about 24 hours, oh well. If it flops I’ll try again. It’s too easy not to try and if it’s good I will be pleased.

I am a little disappointed with our weekend trip to the new West Elm store in Southpoint. They didn’t have the bed I was looking for in the store. Now I am on the hunt for something else. We aren’t trying to break the bank and I want something we can use with different furniture when we decide to buy a set. I’ve found a couple of options but Matt said he doesn’t know about buying something we can’t see. For the price I want to spend that’s just not going to happen…..

This is the number of days til FOOTBALL season starts!  NC State kicks it off Friday night againstTennessee. Auaburn will play Clemson on Saturday. This is a double headed game which Matt and I were super excited to go to when it was announced last year but after doing a little research we realized tickets alone would cost a small fortune so we will be watching both games at the beach. Not too shabby!  Oh and the kiddos are going on their first beachtrip. This should be interesting.

  • I am currently dreaming….

of a new bed.  Hehe!  For a while now I’ve wanted new bedroom furniture but after paying for carpet I don’t think buying a full set is in the cards.  However, I think I’ve convinced Matt to buy a new bed.  He really wants a King size bed and I really want a Tempurpedic mattress (not a real one because those things are $$$$ but a nice fake one from Ikea would do.)

Currently I have my eye on a bed from West Elm.  They are opening a new store in the Southpoint Mall in Durham next week I think.  This will be great because we can check it out and make sure it’s what I want, but I think it is.  I’ve been coming back to fabric headboards.  It just seems like they are in style and a little more versatile.  We will get a dark base and then when the time comes we can buy the rest of the furniture.  My only complaint is I don’t really like any of the coordinating furniture from West Elm so this means, when the time comes, we will have to find something else that matches.  I think we will be okay though.

I really do like this look.  I also like how low to the floor the base is.  This will keep the kiddos from getting under the bed.  But it also eliminates any sort of under bed storage.  We desperately need more storage in our bedroom for sure. Oh well, that’s why we need new furniture.  🙂

  • It’s a trust thing

Nothing makes me angrier than other people talking about my private matters. My mother thinks it is her job to tell everyone we know our (mine and Matt’s) personal business! I am beyond annoyed about this. I have asked her repeatedly to keep her damn mouth shut and she continues to tell more people!

This is a huge violation of my trust and it makes me mad she still thinks it’s okay “because it’s so and so.” If I wanted so and so to know my personal business I could call or email them and tell them what the hell is going on. Otherwise it’s NONE of their business! At this point she is out of the loop. It’s sad that I don’t feel I can trust my own mom with personal items. It’s nice to talk to her but if I can’t trust her then I have no other choice then to just not tell her anything.

It’s super frustrating that she just doesn’t “get” it. And I think what bothers me even more is her “no big deal” attitude. I don’t go around blabbing her personal affairs and I would appreciate it if she would do the same.

    Okay rant over.
