Fall in NC
Has been beautiful this year. The leaves have been amazing shades of red, orange, yellow and green. Each morning as I drive to work I am in awe of how beautiful it all is. I am pretty bummed that I haven’t taken a single pic. 🙁 Bad Kelly!
Just as the leaves hit their peak, the clocks changed and any thoughts I had of taking pics after work were gone. Damn you day light savings time. Oh and if I haven’t mentioned, I hate turning the clocks back. I think I’d much rather get ready in the dark then drive home in the dark. How am I supposed to do anything after a long day of work when it’s pitch black out?

Dinner for 6?
I think so, now. Matt and I have invited his parents and another couple to our house for Thanksgiving this year. After the couple accepted I went into freak out mode because I only had 4 matching placemats. I made Matt run to Crate and Barrel during lunch a few weeks ago in search of more. I had a back up place should he not find anymore and I’m glad I did. I decided to mix and match colors so I bought 4 additional placemats in Orange from World Market. Remarkably they look very similar to the ones from C&B. {I found these while I was on the mad hunt for a centerpiece.}
Last week Matt and I are in the grocery store talking about Thanksgiving and he goes, “You know what we don’t have 6 of”? Hmmm, we have enough silverware, placemats are good, I have enough plates….oh……”we don’t have 6 chairs.” Dammit. This lead to the great chair hunt. I looked online and in a few stores. I just couldn’t seem to find exactly what I was looking for. Then one night I decided to look at Overstock.com. Lo and behold I found a pair of great looking chairs and they weren’t too expensive. Plus the color looked very similar to the sofa and love seat. I ordered them and waited.
Last night our chairs were delivered. Whoop whoop! After we got home from the eye doctor we put together our new chairs. I must say I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the chairs look and feel. It didn’t take us very long to put them together either. I am really diggin’ the new chairs. I think they add a nice contrast to the table. Shh, don’t tell Matt but it kind of makes me want to get 2 more. 😉

Blur no more
Let me start off by saying I HATE going to the eye doctor. Eyes freak me out. There is just something about someone messing with your eyes. Not to mention the dilation completely freaks me out and normally causes an “episode”. {Episodes consist of me almost passing out or actually passing out.} But I knew my eye sight was starting to get bad again and I had to go.
Last week I made an appointment for after work today and told Matt he had to come. We get there and after a brief wait, they call us back. {I’m sure people think we are nuts that he has to come with me.} The girl does some tests and takes us over to an exam room and says the doctor will be in shortly. As we are sitting there waiting, Matt makes me go ahead and start eating some candy, because both of us are still wondering when they will dilate my eyes. The doc comes in, does the exam and there is no mention of dilation. Hmmm. A couple of different contacts later, still no dilation. And then we are done. Wait, WHAT?!?!? {You better believe I didn’t ask!}
Since my RX has changed I decided to get another pair of glasses. The place had some frames that were half price and I was able to find a pair I liked, however, I didn’t get to use the discount. My insurance covers 30% of lenses and frames and that discount was better the half off the frames only. I’m pretty excited about my new glasses, even though I mostly wear contacts. These are pretty cute and will give me the option. I lost my original pair of glasses one night at a bar so I ordered a cheap pair online. While they are nice and work, they are a little too big for my face and the new ones will fit much better.
I told Matt a few minutes ago its amazing how you don’t realize you can’t see until you can.

More ornaments
Thanks to my new Pinterest addiction I found some super cute ornaments I decided to make. I mentioned a few of these last week. Anyway I didn’t mention all the ornaments I made because I not only made one for me, I made one for a friend. She had an At Home Reception on Friday but I wanted to give her hers before I blogged them.
Anyway, I found this great idea on Pinterest of taking a wedding invitation and putting it inside a glass ornament. How brilliant is that? Well it’s great. All you do is cut up a wedding invitation, roll the stripes around a pen and carefully put the stripes in a glass ornament. I was lucky enough to find some glass ornaments at Big Lots a few weeks ago. Next I needed to cut the invitation, curl it and stuff it. {You need to be careful while cutting so you don’t cut any of the wording.} Once I had that done I found a few charms from Michaels. For my friend’s ornament I used a palm tree and for mine I used a star fish. Add some colored ribbon to match and Viola!
I will add that I added the more important wording towards the end. I wanted to make sure that things like names, dates and places were easy to see. You can always use tweezers to help arrange the stripes if you need to. As I’m looking at these pics I noticed I didn’t really get a good pic of mine {the pink one} in regards to wording. But you can see both mine and Matt’s names.

What did I do?
I bought tights today. {shakes head} But *I* pledge to wear them for good not trashiness, nor will my crotch show. I will wear my tights under dresses and only under dresses. These I will NOT wear even under long sweaters because I know the difference. 😉
But seriously a friend is having an at home reception tomorrow night and I needed a new dress plus my work Christmas party is in a few weeks and well what girl doesn’t need a few new dresses. I ended up finding 2 that I really liked so I bought both of them. One I plan to wear tomorrow night and the other for the Christmas party. I think only one will really look good with tights though.
Since Matt and I have been super slackers in the pic taking department maybe we’ll take a few tomorrow night. I can show off my new dress and Matt can show off his facial hair (in honor of Movember he is not shaving, we are both curious to see how it goes.) 😉

Breakfast for dinner…
I think so. I guess I should preface this by saying that for maybe 2 weeks or so I have been craving hash browns, like the ones from McDonalds. But alas each day as I’m headed to work I never have just enough extra time to stop.
Tonight Matt and I ran to the grocery store. We were out of oh, you know, food. 😉 Really we just needed some of the essentials like bread, cheese, milk, and lunch stuff. As we were making our rounds, what caught my eye? A yummy looking package of frozen hash brown patties. MMMM! I resisted the temptation the first time but as we were headed out back I asked Matt what he wanted for dinner. His response, “well if you get the hash browns you were drooling over we could have breakfast for dinner.” What a brilliant idea. We grabbed some bacon and breakfast for dinner it was.
Can I just say, those frozen hash brown patties were quite delicious. Very McDonalds like. MMMMM.

Tights are not Pants!
There I said it. More and more I see girls who are under the impression that they should wear tights with sweatshirts or sweaters or anything else that doesn’t bother to cover their ass. What’s worse is when you can see through them AND they aren’t wearing underwear. First off that is just gross. Seriously I side eye the hell out of you for that. Secondly it does NOT look good. There I said that too, YOU DO NOT LOOK GOOD!
Over the weekend while Matt and I were at the game a girl was at our tailgate wearing a sweatshirt and tights. While she wasn’t a large girl, she was by no means small. Plus you could see straight through them sans undies. She couldn’t have been warm and well……yeah. So wrong. Then I went to Michael’s on Sunday and sure enough the girl in line in front of me, tights and a sweatshirt.
This trend must stop. Girls, I’m telling you even the guys think its awful. Please stop! But for god sake if you do please wear undies.

I is crafty
Over the weekend I got the craft bug. A trip to Michael’s and lots of money later I had tons of stuff for various craft projects. One such idea I found on Pinterest was to use old cookie cutters and make them into Christmas ornaments. As luck would have it I HAVE a few old cookie cutters that would be great ornaments. And lets face it I couldn’t (and didn’t) use them. So instead of them continuing to sit in the kitchen taking up space I decided to give them new life.
First I found some cute scrapbook paper. Then I cut the paper to fit inside each cookie cutter. This is not as easy as you might think. After the first one I had the brilliant idea to use some ink on the cookie cutter to help give me a better outline. That was a HUGE help.
The horse was a pain even with the outline.
As you can imagine stamping the outline on the back of the paper helped a lot. Once I got the paper in both cutters I proceeded to slather them in mod podge. At first I just put it on the cutter and put the paper on. It easily came out so I decided to just go for it. Then I added some cute scrap book flowers. It wasn’t exactly what I was looking for but at that point I had been in Michael’s entirely too long.
They don’t look bad. I think the tree looks better with the flower but whatever. I just need to add some ribbon to the back (once I get glue sticks to fit the glue gun I bought) and I think I might paint the outside of the horse. I haven’t decided yet. But as you can see I have a couple of cute ornaments that have meaning and only cost me a few bucks to make.

Happy Birthday
Mr Julio! Today is the day we assume you were born so that makes you officially 2 years old.
I can’t believe it’s almost been 2 years since we got Julio. He is such a fun little guy and adds so much to our family. Even though he still annoys the hell out of Hal I think she really does tolerate him. 😉

Wedding pics are officially up and posted to their page, 6 months later. I finally got the video to work and I think it turned out pretty good. It might be a tad long but that’s okay.
Enjoy!
