  • The short list

It’s only Tuesday and I feel like this week is already dragging.  I’m sure it doesn’t help that our system at work is having on by the proverbial thread.  I keep waiting for it to just die!

Today at lunch I ran to Carolina Pottery {you see a pattern starting} to look for rugs.  I am determined to replace the rug in our living room.  It doesn’t really go with my “decor” vision.  🙂  Honestly I’m not really sure what this vision is yet but I think a new rug will help.  Anyway, I found 3 really good contenders.  I took pics and emailed them to Matt.  Of course he wasn’t as fond of my favorite but I think if he sees it it might grow on him.  And out of the 3 it really did seem like the nicest.

I’m thinking we will make a little trip over there this weekend to check them out.  Right now this is on the top of my “want” list.  The “want” list also includes painting the house, replacing the carpets, replacing the deck and having the ac fixed.  Well that is really the short list. 😉

  • These shoes aren’t made for walking ;)

Over the weekend I stumbled across an adorable pair of shoes.  A luck would have it they were the last pair and they were on clearance!  Woo hoo! This is actually how I found my last pair of awesome target shoes.    Granted these are not everyday shoes and my toes might hurt a little bit from wearing them today but hey sometimes you just have to suck it up. 😉

  • Foto Friday Week 4

I know it’s been a while but here are a few shots from the beach last weekend with my new lens.  Let me just say none of these have been edited at all and I think all of the beach pics were taken in manual.

This was on the drive down.  It’s hard to take good pics in a car.

This is something I would have never gotten with another lens.  Granted they were flying pretty low but still.

Not totally sure why I like this one but I do.

Happy Friday!  I will probably edit these and post them again.

  • It’s another shoe post

I’m still on the hunt for new shoes.  Today at lunch I ran to Cross Roads.  I forgot there was a DSW over there and conveniently located right next to Ulta!  I still don’t understand why it is soooo hard to find a cute pair of wedges.  I just need something to hold me over till fall when I can start wearing my boots again.  Actually I did find a couple of really cute wedges but DSW had nothing in the way of a small size.  When you can wear a 6-6.5 and all they have are 9+ you are kind of out of luck.

I was browsing through the clearance shoes when I ran across an AMAZING pair of shoes.  First off let me just say these are not really shoes I would normally even try on.  But I was bored and well yeah.  I should have known they would look awesome.  {I have great ankles what can I say ;)}  I almost took a pic to send to Matt but decided against it.  Now I’m totally wishing I had.  But since I didn’t I just spent the last 5 mins trying to find them online.  Behold……

See how great they are?  Not really your “wear everyday” shoe but mmmmmmm.

  • I want a BIG vase!

A couple of weeks ago I posted about the canvas I got for one of our wedding pics.  Ever since then I’ve been trying to figure out exactly what I wanted to do with the fireplace mantel.  I found an awesome E at Stein Mart a while back and I know I want to keep that up there as well.  But what else can I add?  I have no idea.  I thought about a vase.  I know sort of what I’m looking for but I can’t seem to find one that matches or one that I like.  I actually bought something a few weeks ago but I decided it just wasn’t what I wanted.  So now I’m looking for more ideas.  Gotta love google. 🙂  I have decided I think I am going to scratch the vase idea and look for something else.  Why you ask?  Because I think I want to get a large vase to stand beside the fireplace.  I’m kind of super excited about this idea really.

I think something similar to the green vase in the bottom left corner is what I’m looking for {or that EXACT one}.  I’m not sure yet.  I’m pretty sure Matt isn’t going to be keen on this idea, are you hun?  But I really think it would look pretty amazing sitting beside the fireplace.  hmmmm.

  • I got nothing…

I’m still on the hunt for some awesome wedges.  I’m still super sad my old flip flops had to go to the great flip flop heaven in the sky.  Today at lunch I ran to Stein Mart in hopes of finding a suitable replacement.  I managed to find 2 cool pairs of shoes unfortunately neither pair were in my size.  🙁  I did manage to find a really cute summer dress on sale for $17.00 but I just tried it on and I think it might actually be a little too big.  I can’t decide if washing and drying it would help of if I need to take it back.  I will get Matt’s opinion later.  I mean really it’s only like [___] too big.  Maybe he will think it looks fine.

In other news I have a huge fever blister.  Seriously these things suck.  I’m not sure what it is but it seems like the sun brings them out.  I am going to have to start being more careful outside I guess.

  • Weekend recap – I touch your food

A long weekend was much needed after the chaos of last week.  It was nice to wake up Friday morning and go lay on the beach all day.   It was super hot outside and I was glad we decided to buy another umbrella at Costco last weekend.  I managed to take a few pics with my new lens.  I also decided to play wiht the manual settings on my camera.  Much to my surprise I think I did pretty well.  It was nice to have a sunny day and be able to just sit and play with the different settings.  And just for reference I took a couple in auto to see how they compared.  I will post some pics for Foto Friday.

Saturday was a repeat of Friday and after a day of roasting on the beach we decided to go to the Boundary House in Calabash.  The food was really good but I was beyond shocked when our waitress decided to grab the grilled shrimp off our friend’s plate.  His order was all kinds of wrong.  He ordered fried shrimp, crab cakes and fish.  The shrimp was grilled and well there were no crab cakes at all.  He didn’t mind the oysters that he received instead of crab cakes but he and his wife were both looking forward to the fried shrimp.  The waitress’s idea was to just take the grilled shrimp so she grabbed the shrimp off his plate, with her hands. UGHH!  Then she brings them back because “they were just going to throw them away.” *shakes head*  Finally she brings a measly 4 fried shrimp.  After the ordeal we were all kind of stunned.  I finally was like “who does that?  Who grabs your food off your plate and then brings it back?”  Apparently she heard me because a minute later she stops by to make sure it was okay.  I’m still just like WTF?!?!   Aside from that we had a good dinner.

I would say the overall trip was really nice and relaxing.  I am really glad our friends were able to join us.

  • Craptastic, yes it’s a real word!

Today has pretty much been a craptastic day!  {Aside from my new lens arriving}  I literally got back from lunch, opened my lens, put it on my camera and put it back in the bag.  I was so busy this afternoon nothing got done.  We’ve had a ton of expedites lately and they are driving me insane.  I am literally ready to kick someone in the freaking head!  GRRR!

Now that I am home I am playing with my new lens while trying to learn more about my camera.  {Watch out}  I broke out the camera book Matt bought me last year.  I’ve decided that since I finally have an awesome lens it’s time to start learning what I can really do.  So I’m sitting here on the couch going through the book taking random pics with my new awesome lens.  {By the way, I feel this post is slipping away quickly.  I have no focus, not even for blogging right now}  I have also been somewhat inspired by a new blog I found. Paper camera heart is a pretty cool blog.  I haven’t read too much yet, I only found it a few days ago, but so far I am enjoying it.

Okay this post is all over the place.  I’m going go back to reading.

  • I make you look like a behbeh

No seriously I can almost totally do that now.  While perusing perezhilton.com the other day I saw a pop up ad for some photo editing software.  {Remember I think I mentioned this yesterday}  Anyhoo, last night I decided to bite the bullet and just buy it.  I mean I really am starting to feel that my photo taking skills aren’t awful but my photo editing skills completely SUCK!  So in an attempt to do better I need software I can actually work.  This new software is super simple to use and I am really excited about it.

Last night after making my purchase I started to play around with a few pics and get a  feel for what I’m working with.  The controls are very easy to use.  So easy in fact that I decided to make my parents look young again.  {I know, best. daughter.ever!}  🙂

    The before.

    The after.

See it really is pretty good.  I didn’t do either of these too heavy again I was really just playing around.  But you get the idea.  Like a behbeh!
