Yes I’m a big slacker!
Yes I am aware. I completely spaced on Foto Friday but in my defense it was really too hot to take any pics. It has been too hot to move really. 🙂
Anyway, be prepared to be bombarded with pics over the next few weeks. Last week Matt decided to order the new Macbook Air. Well if he gets a new laptop then *I* get a new camera lens (and yes this is completely a tit for tat situation). But guys this is not just any camera lens. This is THE ONE! The 18-200mm I’ve been lusting over for about 2 years now. It is not a cheap lens hence the lusting part. Thankfully we’ve had a really good month so these two purchases aren’t too bad on the pocketbook. This lens will also complete my camera bag for a while. I will now have 3 very good lenses all for different things. I am soooo excited I am finally getting this.
I have dreams of stopping randomly on the road to take pics. Now this probably won’t really happen, at least not if I’m alone but I will definitely be inclined to carry my camera more. Plus we are going back to the beach this weekend and I will have my new lens. I am really looking forward to being able to capture a wider range of images.
And on somewhat related side note, I found some really good editing software. It’s actually really cheap so now I’m trying to decide if I want to purchase this too. It would really enhance portraits. Hmmm. 😉

Holy Heat Wave!
Yeah so the temps have been reaching 100+ for the past few days. The only thing remotely okay about this is it’s not just NC. It’s the whole country. But really it’s not okay, it is just MISERABLE! Like it’s almost to hot to walk from my office door to my car.
Matt and I have hibernated in the house and I plan to stay here until this heat wave gives.

It’s just one of those days!
Today started off pretty good but this afternoon just blew up. Lets just say I’ve had my fill of stupid today. All I can do is shake my head and move on.
During lunch I ran to carolina pottery. It’s right down the street from my office and the last time I was there I saw a really cute yard frog. I thought about it for a while and decided to go but it today. I love him. He is just adorable and I’m pretty sure Matt does to. Meet Freddy the frog.
I’m pretty sure he will enjoy it here.

No shoes = Kindle?
I just thought about it but I guess I should really update you about “the” shoes and I don’t mean my flip flops. You know the adorable Calvin Kleins I was supposed to get. Well on Saturday I made Matt run to the mall. I really needed some more makeup but I also wanted to get some new shoes. After running to the Bare Minerals store we headed to Macy’s. Lo and behold I found my shoes quite quickly. To my disappointment they really weren’t want I thought I wanted. While they were really cute and comfy sling backs the heels just weren’t tall enough. I’m short! I need heels! Or should I say I WANT heels! These just weren’t high enough to make me the height I am. 😉 I did browse the shoe section to make sure there was nothing else that caught my eye. Booo! I came home shoeless.
A few of the knotties turned nesters decided to start a book club. I like to read so I decided to join in. A book was decided on and it was time to start reading. I told Matt after we left the mall that we needed to run by Target so I could get our book club book. He then asked me if we needed to get me a Kindle. With a small gleam in my eye I said yes. Secretly I’ve kind of wanted a Kindle since he got one. Really I think it was more because he had one and I didn’t {I know I know}. We headed to Best Buy to buy me a Kindle! YAY!
I really really wanted a white Kindle but at nearly $200.00 it just wasn’t worth it. I don’t really need wireless AND 3G, which is the only option for white. I only need wireless so I settled for the gray wireless one with Ads. Go me! I saved us another $20.00 because the Kindle with Ads is cheaper. The compromise is that I can get the AWESOME pink cover. I ordered that as soon as we got home. Now if the damn thing would ship.
I will say while the Kindle is very easy to read the lack of page numbers is killing me. I accidently pressed the wrong button last night {quite a few times dammit!} and got lost. Ughh! I know you can press the menu button to see the page number but really I just need page numbers!

Ode to a flip flip
Dear Awesome Gold Flip Flops,
Today was your last voyage. You can’t imagine my disappointment when I realized you were about to break. Had I not spilled water on my foot who knows how many more days you would have lasted (I didn’t think you’d make it the day). But in the end I felt today was the day. You were good flip flops, the best really. You were my “go-to” for almost 3 summers in a row. And really in flip flop years you had be nearing 100.
I will not forget you anytime soon. And your replacements will have big shoes, or flip flops, to fill. I hope you enjoy your new life in the flip flop heaven in the
trash cansky.

As you see my flip flops were more then wore out but of course that made them the best! I have plans to reuse the sparklies. I’m just not sure what their new life will be yet. And lets not mention the fact that I almost cut my finger off. I really should not play with knives.

This might be a theme
Matt and I have been married for 2 whole months now. WOO HOO! Break out the bubbly. Okay that might be pushing it a bit. ha! I think I have convinced him to go to dinner tonight. YAY! I mean it is our TWO MONTHIVERSAY and all. Plus if we go anywhere near the mall I am going to stop and pick up the new shoes I’ve been eyeing for a couple of weeks. They are a little pricey but home-girl got a raise today. Watch out! It really isn’t very much and I know I should be grateful but…..I already feel pretty underpaid so, yeah.
If we do happen to run by the mall I’m sure I will be sporting my new awesome Calvin Klein’s tomorrow. If that is the case I will take pics. They are super adorable.
Happy Monthiversary Matt!

I’m falling apart! It’s official!
I’ve been married less then 2 months and I am already falling apart. More so now then before. I blame Matt. 🙂 When we first got back he had some random cough that caused him to sleep on the couch the first week of marriage. Poor thing would wake up in the middle of the night having coughing fits and would go downstairs so I could sleep. A few days later I got said cough. Thankfully mine didn’t last as long as his did and I didn’t sleep on the couch. I know I’m a bad wife. hehe.
Then a few weeks ago I had some random throat thing. Who knows what the hell that mess was. It was awful and I wanted to pull my tonsils out. It probably wouldn’t have hurt that bad. A doctor visit and a week of antibiotics later I finally started feel better. Granted my throat started to feel better a day or so after I started the meds but it was still funky, even after I finished the antibiotics.
Now I have a bladder infection. If you’ve never had one let me just say you are lucky. They are the devil. Seriously they suck! It started on Saturday but I pushed through. Sunday I got some over the counter meds but those didn’t do much and by this morning I was done. My regular doc was booked till tomorrow afternoon and I knew I couldn’t make it that long. I called my old place and they were able to get me in first thing this morning. Thank goodness! PLUS, I was in and out by 9am. This is no small feat considering I stopped going there because it would normally take me and hour plus for the most basic things. I personally blame the office manager. But whatever, I was able to see a doc, get meds and get the hell out of there in 30 mins. I will consider the whole appointment a success.
The doc told me to wait on the test results before filling my antibiotics but I didn’t bother to wait. I knew what was wrong so I stopped by CVS before coming in to work. Now I am finally starting to feel better. It’s amazing what one little pill can do. It might not hurt that I’ve also now taken 2 Excedrin. My head is killing me. Ughh! I hate headaches. They suck too!
Wow so that was way more then I expected to write about falling apart. I guess this is what happens when I blog at work. I seem to get lost in my head and the words just flow. 🙂 And now it’s just about that time to pack it up and head home!
Till tomorrow!

Cirque
Saturday afternoon Matt and I went to a pig pickin’ in Chapel Hill before going to Cirque du Soleil. For those of you not familiar with a pig pickin’, it is basically a BBQ only you grill a whole pig. The cook out was nice and thankfully it wasn’t too hot that afternoon. Around 6 we headed back to Raleigh to the RBC center. When we finally parked and got to our seats we only had 10 – 15 mins before the show started. I might have even sneaked a photo with my phone. AHHH! 🙂 Cameras aren’t allowed.
The Alegria was pretty good. And several of the acts were amazing. I do think the first show I saw, Varekai was better. It has been several years since I saw Varekai so who knows maybe I just hyped it up. 🙂 I would definitely recommend seeing a Cirque show if you’ve never seen one. The performers are amazing and some of the things they do are really quite spectacular.
