Friday fun day?
Last night the girls has our 3rd annual ornament exchange. This is really fun and I love the tradition we’ve started. It’s fun to go out and buy a cute ornament. Pier 1 is my fave store for this. The past 2 years I’ve ended up with really great ornaments. Last year I got a super cute bell snowman and this year I got a red ball with silver glittery reindeer. 🙂 Now I just need to hang my new ornament on the tree.
I had the day off today so this morning I took Hal to the vet. She’s been throwing up a good bit lately and I thought it was time to get her checked out. The vet did some blood work and will let me know the results on Monday. She also found 2 of her top teeth are really bad. She said the tooth decay could be causing her to be sick. My guess is that she isn’t chewing well and it’s making her sick. 🙁 I guess as long as her blood work comes back okay she will go back to the vet in January to have her teeth cleaned and possibly have the 2 bad teeth removed. Poor girl. I know she’s getting old but if that will help her feel better we will do it.
Matt and I have also noticed she seems to be walking a little gingerly and the vet confirmed that she has come cartilage wear in her front left leg. I got her some medicine that should help with repair and she’s also now going to get a little canned food since the med is a powder. (She LOVES canned food!)
After an oh so fun trip to the vet I ran to the salon to get my hair cut. I think I really like my new stylist. A few more cuts and I will know for sure. Then I hit the UPS store to mail mom and dad’s Christmas gifts. Unfortunately they may not make it in time. 🙁 That’s what I get for buying dad an odd shaped gift. One quick trip to the mall and Christmas shopping was officially DONE! I got home and wrapped presents and I am ready for the holiday!
Wow I feel like I was busy today!

Christmas Craft Extravaganza
That’s what happened at our house this weekend. I finally finished the paper Christmas trees I’ve been working on for, oh 2 weeks. I also made an ornament wreath for over the fireplace. I have a lighted wreath for the front door but I knew I wanted to try an ornament wreath. I also got the mantel finished complete with dollar store stocking holders.
They don’t look too bad. I couldn’t really find any stands for them. I also didn’t have room on the mantel for them so they are downstairs.
This is our mantel. I think it turned out pretty well. The garland has pretty much had it so it will get tossed at the end of the season. Overall I think it looks nice.
The dollar store stocking holders. Not quite what I was going for but for a buck each and some spray paint they aren’t too bad. I got 2 Joys and 2 trees.
And of course the piece d’resistance. AHHHHHH! My wreath. It took about 30 minutes, a wire hanger and about 70 balls. Once I got my pattern down things went pretty well. I was lucky the tops to my ornaments were pretty tight, they were plastic, so I didn’t have to hot glue them on. Once I was to the end Matt helped me close the hanger back and Viola.
The Christmas table. And lastly……
The TREE!

Let there be light
On the tree that is. The tree is now fluffed and lit. For some unknown reason the top looks crooked or not fluffed right. And the left side looks dark. Obviously I’m having issues. If I could only find the energy to put the decorations on. Ughh!

I’m a holiday slacker
I just can’t get in the mood to decorate the tree. I don’t know what it is. It is currently chillin’ in the corner of the den waiting to be fluffed, lit and decorated. Right now it is a sad sad tree. But I DON’T WANNA decorate it right now. I still haven’t finished my decorative Christmas trees from last week. Not to mention the stack of Christmas cards that need to be addressed, stamped and mailed. Ughh, why do I suck right now? I think tomorrow is my day. Matt is going to the State basketball game with the guys so hopefully I can find my Christmas cheer and decorate.
I’ll post pics once the house is done.

Hello November
Today I had lunch outside with the hubs. Actually we’ve had the windows open for a few days now and one might even say it’s a bit warm in here. Literally, it’s kind of hot in the house, in NOVEMBER! I am not going to complain though. This weather has been amazing for this time of year.
I hope the weather stays this way for a few more days. With Thanksgiving only a few days away, it would be nice to enjoy the season, a warm season that it.
And while I’m at it, wish me luck. I will be cooking my first Thanksgiving meal, mostly by myself. Matt will be frying our turkey in the new oil less turkey fryer. {We did a test run over the weekend with a small turkey breast and it turned out pretty nice.} Tomorrow night I will start working on the desserts. EEEKKK!
I’ll be back next week to let you know how it all went.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving table
My new obsession with Pinterest has fueled my desire to decorate the house. For the past few days I’ve been trying to decide how to decorate the table for Thanksgiving. We will be hosting Matt’s parents and maybe another couple. This means I want to do something great for our Thanksgiving table. I ran to Carolina Pottery yesterday and found a really great bowl but it was too large, not really the right color and well, too pricey.
At lunch today I ran to World Market and wouldn’t you know they had the SAME platter only smaller, in the right color and the price was a hell of a lot better. You know I bought it and the rest of my table will work with said platter. The only problem is, now that the table is set I think it needs more. MORE I say! The table looks nice but “too clean” if that makes sense. I guess I will be making a few more trips to Carolina Pottery, Michaels, etc. before the holiday.
I have pics but I don’t think I will post them yet 😉
