  • March Madness

    is here!  And for a girl who could care less about basketball I love March Madness.  Or I should say I love the tournament.  I pretty much tolerate basketball during the season but Matt loves it and he is always watching the Wolfpack so I have become a fan, sort of.

    If you had told me a few years ago I would be watching the tourney and cheering on teams I would have told you no way in hell!  But alas here we are.  After my divorce I got way more into sports.  Mainly college football because at the time I worked with all guys.  If I wanted to be in the conversation I had to know what was going on and having gone to Auburn helped because I already loved college football.  That was the same year I filled out my first NCAA basketball bracket.  I don’t know exactly how well I did but I had Florida winning it all and they did.  Beginners luck, absolutely!  Now this is just part of my yearly routine.  It helps that work encourages friendly betting and offers a free dinner for the bracket winner.  Oh and did I mention I can watch bball on my computer all day?  Yeah that happens. 🙂

    The Pack plays tomorrow at 12:40 so I will be sporting a tee shirt to work and rooting for my fave ACC team.  😉  I might even have them advancing to the next round.  Wish them luck!

  • What to do?

    The great phone debate has hit our house.  iPhone vs. Android.  Currently I have the HTC incredible and honestly I think it is pretty darn incredible.  Granted it is my first smart phone but I love the functionality and more importantly I love the SIZE!  In world where “it’s a phone, it’s a tablet” is becoming the norm, I’m not really okay with that.  I have a tablet and I have a phone.  I don’t need a tablephone.  I don’t understand why the Android phones are continuing to get larger.  The 90’s aren’t back!  Give me a small, yet functional phone!  I need something that fits in my hand since I have attachment issues.  😉

    Yesterday Matt informed me I was eligible for an upgrade and I could get the iphone if I wanted.  Basically I haven’t asked for a birthday present {hello I got an elliptical} so this is his, you can have this for your birthday if you want gift.  I am fine with that but I hadn’t expected my upgrade to be so soon.  I figured it would be a few months from.  I have not really prepared myself to make the switch.  AHHHH what do I do?  I could hang on to my incredible for a few more months in hopes of a smaller droid, or I could make the switch.

    Anyone want to leave a comment with their vote?  you know you want to 😉

  • Blah

    I am having issues with my blog header/page lately.  I want a change, I want to keep the owls but

    I want something different.  I feel like I have no creativity lately for this.  Maybe I will find my creative

    juices after a week long vacation.  That happens in a WEEK!   Wooo hooo!

    In case you haven’t noticed I have added a travel blog tab to the top of the blog.  Matt and I plan to

    start documenting our travels.  We really should go back and document our London Trip from a few

    years ago.  I will leave that one to the hubs.  😉

    PS I’m just trying this out.  I’ve seen a few blogs that do this so we’ll see what I think.

  • Thank you

    Just 2 simple words but somewhere somehow they seem to get lost.  I find this true day in a day out.  Not very willingly I sometimes work with customers and there are times I feel I will go out of my way to help them with something.  I always think it’s great to get that “thank you!” email in return but mostly I find I get this email from the random customer I did very little for.  The customer’s I’ve bent over backwards for continue on their way without so much as a thanks.  {I remember this too.}

    A few weeks ago I had someone randomly contact me regarding our travel agent via facebook.  The girl had questions about the agent and St Lucia.  I feel I went above and beyond to respond to her with helpful answers.  I mean I wrote a nice sized message in return with activities, links to my wedding pics and my personal pics of St. Lucia.  You know what I got…..a big fat NADA!  Not a thanks so much, thank you that is great info, or even just thanks!  I’m not gonna lie, it really pissed me off.  Like I sat there and took the time to be nice to a stranger and I can’t get a thank you?!?!  Well f*** you too!

    It’s not hard to say thanks, it doesn’t even really take that much time of effort.  For crying out loud it’s TWO measly little words.  Granted I know I’m not perfect and I’m sure there are times in my life where a thank you was warranted and went unsaid.  With that said I do feel like I try pretty hard to say thanks when thanks is due.

    And while I’m on this subject I just have to throw this out there.  A few months ago a friend got married and had an at home reception.  She told me “do not get a gift I hate writing thank yous.”  HA! So I made her a gift. 😉  I did it just because and I knew I would not get a thank you card nor did I expect one.  {She did thank me for the gift while chatting a few days later.}  But then, what did I receive in the mail a few days later, a thank you card which I totally did not expect.  🙂  I was really touched knowing how she felt.

    So see people, it’s not that damn hard!!!!  It’s just not hard especially if you receive a gift that was shipped to you.  At least that way the person who sent the gift knows you received it!

    And rant/soapbox over.

  • Oh, you want my info?

    One thing that really really annoys me are mass FB messages.  I don’t mind getting FB messages, I mind getting messages addressed to multiple people.  Why?  First off if you have a question then you need to just ask me.  I am NOT going to respond to any FB message that needs my information or input addressed to multiple people.  Secondly, getting the notifications drives me absolutely bat shit crazy!  I do NOT care what 50 (or even 5) other people say unless the message is specific to those included people.

    Why you ask might I bring this up?  My cousin is getting married and apparently thinks that mass FB messages are acceptable for obtaining information such as my address.  It annoys me to no end that she can’t message people separately for this stuff.  I do not care to (nor will I) share this information with random people I don’t know.  On top of the fact that she just got a wedding invitation from me last year.  My info has not changed and if you didn’t keep this, well that’s just poor planning on your part.

    As I said, I have no issues what so ever with getting FB messages or even using FB messages to get this sort of information.  I do understand that FB is super convenient and an easy way to contact people but come on.  I know she is currently overseas but that is no reason to not be courteous to people.  Hell I think we FB’ed a few people to get certain info.  But we also only contacted that person.

    I have the same issue with emails sent to multiple people (like your entire address book) and you don’t BCC people.  Just don’t do it people!

  • Breakfast for dinner…

    I think so.  I guess I should preface this by saying that for maybe 2 weeks or so I have been craving hash browns, like the ones from McDonalds.  But alas each day as I’m headed to work I never have just enough extra time to stop.

    Tonight Matt and I ran to the grocery store.  We were out of oh, you know, food.  😉  Really we just needed some of the essentials like bread, cheese, milk, and lunch stuff.  As we were making our rounds, what caught my eye?  A yummy looking package of frozen hash brown patties.  MMMM!  I resisted the temptation the first time but as we were headed out back I asked Matt what he wanted for dinner.  His response, “well if you get the hash browns you were drooling over we could have breakfast for dinner.”  What a brilliant idea.  We grabbed some bacon and breakfast for dinner it was.

    Can I just say, those frozen hash brown patties were quite delicious.  Very McDonalds like.  MMMMM.

  • Weekend recap….in photos

    After we dried out from Wednesday’s concert, Matt and I woke up Thursday morning to get ready to go to the beach.  It rained most of the way down there and a few times the bottom fell out.  On Friday we decided to run to the outlets since the weather didn’t look promising.  I think that was the right call.  We didn’t find much at the outlets so I was a little disappointed.  But we did run by Bass Pro Shop and bought me a nice pink WATER-PROOF pull over!  I have no clue if it is really water-proof but it says so on the tag!

    Saturday Matt and his dad woke up early and went to play golf.  A little later the girls got up.  While we were sitting around the breakfast table a nasty cloud popped up.  I decided to be optimistic and asked Emma, Matt’s cousin, if she wanted to anyway.  She said yes so me, her and Matt’s mom changed and headed out.  As luck would have it was a really nice day at the beach.  We stayed a few hours and even got burnt.  Later that afternoon we went over to Ocean Isle Beach.  The beach has started to erode.  Turns out at the end of the island 3rd Street is now ocean front.  {Note at the other end 1st Street is ocean front}

    That was pretty much our weekend.  On Sunday morning we packed up and headed home.  But not before it rained a little more!  Ughh!

  • Weekend recap

    This weekend was crazy busy.  We dropped my mom off at the airport on Saturday, had just enough time to eat lunch and watch the first half of the Auburn game before heading back to the airport.  We were able to watch Matt’s cousin, Emma’s, plane arrive.  Then we had to wait about an hour for her to clear immigration.  Apparently RDU had one person checking in non citizens!  Thanks RDU!

    Yesterday afternoon Matt’s parents drove up, they were planning to take Emma to Asheville today.  Last night we all went out to dinner at Coquette to celebrate Matt’s birthday.  I must say dinner was amazing like always.  It’s always nice time going out to dinner with his family.

    Thankfully Matt and I have one more day of work left for the week.  Tomorrow night we are going to see the Fleet Foxes in concert.  We decided to take Thursday and Friday off.  We might head to the beach for a few days as well.  I could use a good shopping trip. 😉
