  • Time to move on….

Today the married knotties made a decision.  We decided it was time to move over the the nest.  For a few weeks now I’ve been looking a for good board to take over.  We didn’t want to take over something that people actually posted on so we were in luck when I came across a fairly inactive board.  Today we decided to move.  We won’t (and don’t plan) to leave our non married friends over on on TK but it was time to have a place to talk about all things non wedding related.  I must say I am very happy with our decision plus a few knotties have already ventured over, which is what we wanted. 🙂

I also have a confession today.  I feel as though I am censoring myself with my blog.  That is exactly the opposite of what this is supposed to be.  I feel like I will think of something and then decide not to write about it.  I am going to make a conscious effort to try and talk about more things.  I mean I literally only have like 5 readers so….

    Happy Thursday!

  • Short and boring

OMG I feel as though I might be falling back into my old boring blog habits.  For a while I was blogging at work during lunch (most days 😉 ).  I can’t remember what happened and I stopped and started blogging from home.  It could be I was super slammed for a while and work was interfering with my blog.

Tonight we have plans with some friends to meet for dinner.  It is a post wedding celebration I suppose.  We haven’t seen them in a few months now and they were unable to attend the wedding.  It will be nice to see them and catch up a bit.

Anyway I am about to head home and get ready so we can meet them.

  • Shows, books and canvas

The other day I hear that Cirque du Soleil was coming to Raleigh.  I saw the show Varekai several years ago while I was living in Austin.  The show was amazing and I’ve been dying to see another one.  This morning I talked to Matt about going next week while they are in town.  When I got to work I searched for tickets and finally found some decent seats for a pretty okay price.  Mind you the ticket prices are not cheap but I think it will totally be worth it.  Matt has never been so I hope he enjoys the show as much as I will.

I walked in this afternoon and sitting on the counter was, you guessed it, my our wedding ALBUM!!!!  YAY!  I was on the phone with my mom so I ran upstairs, changed and then came back down to take a peek.  The book turned out pretty darn good if I must say so.  It only took like a month to finally get everything how I wanted and it’s really cool to see the finished product.  Now I’m just waiting for the canvas I ordered.

It was funny because the other day Matt and I were looking at different sites trying to figure out who to order a canvas print of one of our wedding photos from.  He came across an old Groupon from a company in Raleigh called Canvas on Demand.  I commented on how cool that would have been to find a good deal.  Well wouldn’t you know it, a few minutes later I noticed I had a Groupon alert on my phone.  Lo and behold it was for Canvas on Demand!  And it was EVERYTHING I wanted.  For $46.00 (shipping included) we are getting a 16×20 canvas print.  I am really excited.  I will post a pic once it comes in.

  • I didn’t fall down at the party…

The weekend turned out to be pretty busy for us.  On Saturday we had babygate Shindig.  We got to meet all the new babies that have now joined the group.  And while Shindig is no longer the drunken party it once was, there were drinks consumed.  Matt has now almost mastered the No Pressure.  This was the drink of choice in St Lucia.  We actually didn’t get home until after 11p.  That is a late night for the “old folks”.

While we were out Saturday Matt got a call from one of his little brother’s friends asking if he’d like to play golf on Sunday.  I ran a few errands and watched some movies while he was gone.  I also made some delicious chicken enchiladas for dinner.  I told Matt I kind of felt like I was on an episode of Chopped.  I was throwing stuff in left and right.  I was really scared dinner wouldn’t turn out but I did a really good job.  They were even good leftover.

Last night I was headed downstairs to get the final load of laundry out when all of the sudden my foot slipped out from underneath me.  I fell on my ass and slid down a few more steps before I stopped.  I laughed for a minute until it hit me I had just busted my ass on the stairs.  Once I collected myself I got the laundry out and headed back upstairs.  I told Matt I’d fallen on the stairs.  My arm was a little sore but other then that I thought I felt okay.  Then I laid down in bed and my butt started to hurt, then my ankle, then my back and still my arm.  Basically my whole right side is a little sore.  I didn’t think I really fell that hard.  Hopefully a few more advil and a good nights sleep (and maybe a back rub from Matt ) will make me feel better tomorrow.   I knew it was just a matter of time before I busted my ass on the stairs and I guess it only took 3 years.  That’s gotta be a good record right?

  • Foto Friday – Week 1

It’s finally here people Foto Friday!  WOO HOO!  I know you have been anxiously waiting all week!  😉  I’m been anxiously waiting for this week to end!

As you can see Basil and Sweet Mint don’t look so hot.  Thankfully the deli we went to for lunch had basil out front and it kind of looked the same as mine so I’ll run with it for now.  Lots of water daily!

    Close up.

Our deck light.  A little editing to make it look prettier.

Last but not least, Mr Julio.  I really like how this pic came out.

So folks that is your first Foto Friday.  I promise to try and get better.

    Happy weekend!

  • Dear Week,

    Please end, please end now!

Seriously this has felt like the LONGEST. WEEK. EVER!  I think almost everyone at work today stopped working around 4:30.  The day was just dragging like no other.  Hell the week has dragged on as well.  I’m ready for the weekend to be here.  I have no idea what I really plan to do.  I mean I have a hair appointment  Saturday and then Matt and I have shindig 2011.  But now that shindig has turned into baby-gate I doubt the day will be too crazy.

Can I also say how tired I am of clouds!  I feel like every time I look out the window I see clouds.  If it’s going to be cloudy, just rain already.  Obviously my herbs could use more water.

As you can see this weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek (get it, it’s drawn out, haha!) has completely fried my brain.  So much so that I’m now making bad internet blog jokes.

    Peace out yo!

  • Hello Wine Wednesday!

Hello wine Wednesday!  Regular Wednesday you suck!  Ughh!  Today has definitely been “one of those days”!  It’s mostly all boring work stuff that no one cares to read about so I won’t bore you with the details.  Let’s just say I was pretty happy to have a nice cheap bottle of wine in the fridge.  I definitely needed a glass when I got home.  Now I’m sitting outside with the kiddos enjoying another glass while Matt grills some yummy delicious hamburgers.  MMMM!

For some random reason Julio has decided he should jump up on the dresser and eat my plant.  I’m not sure where this is coming from but it doesn’t make me at all happy.  I noticed this afternoon he’s broken the long stem off now.  GRRR.  He got into trouble for that!  I mean these plants are not that old and to date they have been doing really well.  Honestly I’ve been pretty proud of myself since all of the plants I’ve bought lately are still alive.  (Trust me I suck at growing plants).  I don’t know why he is trying to kill it now.

Normally I have a black thumb so the fact that all of my plants are currently alive makes me pretty happy.  A few weeks ago Matt and I bought some plants for the front porch and I also got some Basil and Sweet Mint.  The plants on the porch look great but everyday my basil looks like it is on the edge of life.  Last night I decided to google basil and see what I was doing wrong, I mean it said it likes full sun.  Apparently basil is not like most herbs and loves water.  Thankfully I’ve been watering it pretty much daily so it’s hanging on.  I hope it makes it through the summer but with temps already reaching 100+ who knows.  At least, in my mind, it will be the heat and not my inability to keep something alive.  Cross your fingers people, I need all the help I can get. 🙂

PS. it is super hard to blog outside.  I can barely see my screen.  Thankfully I can see what I’m typing. 😉

  • Who am I?

It’s been over a month since the wedding and I still haven’t changed my name on a lot of things.  Most importantly is the AMEX.  This however is not my fault!  AMEX will not send me the damn name change form.  It’s really getting annoying because I feel like I have no idea who I am.  I have my new license but I can’t use it because my AMEX still has my old last name on it.  And forget about asking me to sign anything.  Who knows what I’m supposed to write!

Last night I needed to pay the Macy’s bill.  I intentionally did not pay it at the store so I would have to go online and then I would remember to call and change my name.  Once I paid my bill I found the customer service number and called.  After 5 mins or so of trying to figure out which number to push to get a customer service rep I was pretty frustrated.  Thankfully the guy was nice and guess what?  They can change your name OVER the phone!  (Do you hear this AMEX?!!)

After I called Macy’s I decided to go ahead and call about another card I have.  Again they were able to change my name over the phone!  (AMEX, do you hear this?!!?!?!?)  These calls got me to thinking, no wonder people are so rude to customer service reps.  I mean you spend 5-10 mins trying to navigate some crazy auto attendant telling you to “say One for…” “press Two for….” by the time you finally get through to a real person you are beyond frustrated and pissed off.  Add to that you might already be pissed off.  See where I am going with this?  While I understand these are supposed to make your life easier I think they really just piss you off.  And what could be a simple, please change my name call, makes you grumpy and on edge from the beginning.

Now I only have a few more places to call but help me if I have to spend more the 5 mins to reach a person I’m gonna be mad!

  • Nothing like bug bites and flip flops

This weekend was pretty busy and boring all in one.  Saturday night Matt and I went to dinner with a few friends.  We were sitting outside when out of no where it starts to sprinkling on us.  We looked up but there weren’t any clouds over head.  So that was odd.  Then yesterday we go to a pool party, a friend of Matt’s brother invited us to come.  So we are sitting beside the pool when this girl grabs our beach towel and lays it on the ground.  I look at Matt and say “is this really about to happen?”  He looks at me and goes, I think so.  We both watched in astonishment as she proceeds to change her baby ON OUR TOWEL!  Then she folds it and puts it back!  I mean who does that?  Needless to say the towel headed straight for the wash when we got home.

It also appears as though some new “vampire” bug bit me yesterday.  I noticed in the car I had something on my neck.  When I got home I had this….

Um, ew!  It doesn’t really itch but what the hell is it from?  I have no idea.  It actually creeps me out a little bit just looking at the pic.

When I got home today I noticed a package on the counter.  I had no idea what it could be at first, I mean I haven’t ordered anything since the wedding.  And I knew it wasn’t from our registry.  Then it hit me, FLIP FLOPS!!!  YAY!  I signed up for this month’s elfster on my wedding board.  I normally don’t do these things but I couldn’t pass up buying a cute pair for someone else.  And I was dying to see what I would get.

    I got these….

They are super cute and as you can see Mr Julio wanted to try them on too.

  • Foto Friday…

    Coming soon!

I’ve decided that by Friday I normally feel like I have nothing to talk about.  Plus if we have beer Friday at work or Matt and I go out it really doesn’t leave much time for a blog post.  I also feel like I am neglecting my camera.  I think I’ve taken all of 8 pics since we returned from St Lucia.

So what is Foto Friday you might ask?  Well Foto Friday is my way of showing you my week in pics.  I hope to take a pic a day and post them on Friday.  We’ll see how long this actually lasts but my goal is to make this my summer project.

Stay tuned peeps!  It’s about to get interesting!
