  • Dear Week,

    Please end, please end now!

Seriously this has felt like the LONGEST. WEEK. EVER!  I think almost everyone at work today stopped working around 4:30.  The day was just dragging like no other.  Hell the week has dragged on as well.  I’m ready for the weekend to be here.  I have no idea what I really plan to do.  I mean I have a hair appointment  Saturday and then Matt and I have shindig 2011.  But now that shindig has turned into baby-gate I doubt the day will be too crazy.

Can I also say how tired I am of clouds!  I feel like every time I look out the window I see clouds.  If it’s going to be cloudy, just rain already.  Obviously my herbs could use more water.

As you can see this weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek (get it, it’s drawn out, haha!) has completely fried my brain.  So much so that I’m now making bad internet blog jokes.

    Peace out yo!

  • Hello Wine Wednesday!

Hello wine Wednesday!  Regular Wednesday you suck!  Ughh!  Today has definitely been “one of those days”!  It’s mostly all boring work stuff that no one cares to read about so I won’t bore you with the details.  Let’s just say I was pretty happy to have a nice cheap bottle of wine in the fridge.  I definitely needed a glass when I got home.  Now I’m sitting outside with the kiddos enjoying another glass while Matt grills some yummy delicious hamburgers.  MMMM!

For some random reason Julio has decided he should jump up on the dresser and eat my plant.  I’m not sure where this is coming from but it doesn’t make me at all happy.  I noticed this afternoon he’s broken the long stem off now.  GRRR.  He got into trouble for that!  I mean these plants are not that old and to date they have been doing really well.  Honestly I’ve been pretty proud of myself since all of the plants I’ve bought lately are still alive.  (Trust me I suck at growing plants).  I don’t know why he is trying to kill it now.

Normally I have a black thumb so the fact that all of my plants are currently alive makes me pretty happy.  A few weeks ago Matt and I bought some plants for the front porch and I also got some Basil and Sweet Mint.  The plants on the porch look great but everyday my basil looks like it is on the edge of life.  Last night I decided to google basil and see what I was doing wrong, I mean it said it likes full sun.  Apparently basil is not like most herbs and loves water.  Thankfully I’ve been watering it pretty much daily so it’s hanging on.  I hope it makes it through the summer but with temps already reaching 100+ who knows.  At least, in my mind, it will be the heat and not my inability to keep something alive.  Cross your fingers people, I need all the help I can get. 🙂

PS. it is super hard to blog outside.  I can barely see my screen.  Thankfully I can see what I’m typing. 😉

  • Who am I?

It’s been over a month since the wedding and I still haven’t changed my name on a lot of things.  Most importantly is the AMEX.  This however is not my fault!  AMEX will not send me the damn name change form.  It’s really getting annoying because I feel like I have no idea who I am.  I have my new license but I can’t use it because my AMEX still has my old last name on it.  And forget about asking me to sign anything.  Who knows what I’m supposed to write!

Last night I needed to pay the Macy’s bill.  I intentionally did not pay it at the store so I would have to go online and then I would remember to call and change my name.  Once I paid my bill I found the customer service number and called.  After 5 mins or so of trying to figure out which number to push to get a customer service rep I was pretty frustrated.  Thankfully the guy was nice and guess what?  They can change your name OVER the phone!  (Do you hear this AMEX?!!)

After I called Macy’s I decided to go ahead and call about another card I have.  Again they were able to change my name over the phone!  (AMEX, do you hear this?!!?!?!?)  These calls got me to thinking, no wonder people are so rude to customer service reps.  I mean you spend 5-10 mins trying to navigate some crazy auto attendant telling you to “say One for…” “press Two for….” by the time you finally get through to a real person you are beyond frustrated and pissed off.  Add to that you might already be pissed off.  See where I am going with this?  While I understand these are supposed to make your life easier I think they really just piss you off.  And what could be a simple, please change my name call, makes you grumpy and on edge from the beginning.

Now I only have a few more places to call but help me if I have to spend more the 5 mins to reach a person I’m gonna be mad!

  • Nothing like bug bites and flip flops

This weekend was pretty busy and boring all in one.  Saturday night Matt and I went to dinner with a few friends.  We were sitting outside when out of no where it starts to sprinkling on us.  We looked up but there weren’t any clouds over head.  So that was odd.  Then yesterday we go to a pool party, a friend of Matt’s brother invited us to come.  So we are sitting beside the pool when this girl grabs our beach towel and lays it on the ground.  I look at Matt and say “is this really about to happen?”  He looks at me and goes, I think so.  We both watched in astonishment as she proceeds to change her baby ON OUR TOWEL!  Then she folds it and puts it back!  I mean who does that?  Needless to say the towel headed straight for the wash when we got home.

It also appears as though some new “vampire” bug bit me yesterday.  I noticed in the car I had something on my neck.  When I got home I had this….

Um, ew!  It doesn’t really itch but what the hell is it from?  I have no idea.  It actually creeps me out a little bit just looking at the pic.

When I got home today I noticed a package on the counter.  I had no idea what it could be at first, I mean I haven’t ordered anything since the wedding.  And I knew it wasn’t from our registry.  Then it hit me, FLIP FLOPS!!!  YAY!  I signed up for this month’s elfster on my wedding board.  I normally don’t do these things but I couldn’t pass up buying a cute pair for someone else.  And I was dying to see what I would get.

    I got these….

They are super cute and as you can see Mr Julio wanted to try them on too.

  • Foto Friday…

    Coming soon!

I’ve decided that by Friday I normally feel like I have nothing to talk about.  Plus if we have beer Friday at work or Matt and I go out it really doesn’t leave much time for a blog post.  I also feel like I am neglecting my camera.  I think I’ve taken all of 8 pics since we returned from St Lucia.

So what is Foto Friday you might ask?  Well Foto Friday is my way of showing you my week in pics.  I hope to take a pic a day and post them on Friday.  We’ll see how long this actually lasts but my goal is to make this my summer project.

Stay tuned peeps!  It’s about to get interesting!

  • I make art!

I think I mentioned a few days ago that I was in the process of trying to find something to put over our bed.  I’d looked at a few fabric stores but I couldn’t find anything I really liked.  Today during lunch I decided to run to Michael’s.  I figured if nothing else I could go ahead and find some frames.  Boy was I in luck because all their frames were 40-50% off.  SCORE!  I managed to find 4 frames I really liked and with the discount they would be about $15.00 each and I needed 4.

Above is my inspiration pic but at $88.00 each buying 4 would have been silly.  Obviously this pic is pretty awesome but I just couldn’t justify that kind of price.  I knew I should be able to do something similar for a lot less.  I just needed to find it.

While I was at Michael’s I started browsing the scrapbook section.  They have TONS of paper and I figured there had to be something I thought might work.  After looking for a while I finally came across a book of paper.  Out of the 180 sheets I found a few pieces I thought would work.  There was only one real problem, they only had 3 of each page.  GRRR!  This would mean one of two things, either I used 2 different prints or I would have to use 4 different prints.  I wasn’t sure how I would feel about either of these options.  On top of that the book itself was $12.00.  Not a bad price really for all that paper but I don’t scrapbook so I would probably have a book of paper sitting around for a while.  I decided to check out the individual pieces of paper.  A few minutes of looking and I found something I really liked.  It had all the right colors and for a $0.50 a piece I was sold.

I’m pretty proud of my DIY artwork and for $66.00 and change it is a great deal.

Sorry for the craptastic pic.  It was a quick cell pic.

As you can see I was trying to decide between matted and plain.  In the end Matt’s choice of matted won out.  I think once we get the walls painted they will really pop.

I will post more pics once we get them hung this weekend.

  • Blog Fail!

Well crap!  For some unknown reason my whole blog post from yesterday didn’t save and or post.  GRRR!  I have no idea what happened to it.  Matt just told me I didn’t finish it.  I DID finish.  It didn’t post.  BLOG FAIL!

I must say I didn’t have much to say today anyway.  But apparently we have some “artists” in the neighborhood.  They decided to spray paint a few things the other night.  This includes the sidewalk in front of our house.  Mind you we live in a decent neighborhood.  Stupid little thugs!  I must say I’m not too impressed with their “art” skills.  I mean really…..

I’m pretty sure even a 3 year old could master a penis.  So yeah…..

  • Today, it’s all about him!

Well it looks like this week is starting off well.  First it’s our one monthiversay, then we go eat yummy delicious mexican food to celebrate and today Matt gets an offer for a new job!  YAY!  He wasn’t actually looking for a new job but someone contacted him, he interviewed and this place seems like a much better fit.  It doesn’t hurt the pay will be a little better.  😉

The new place sounds like the atmosphere is more like my current job.  They have group functions and it is more causal.  Like he can wear shorts to work causal.  Overall I think this is a great opportunity and I am super proud of him.  I knew when he interviewed that they would love him.  And of course I was right.  I mean who wouldn’t love him?  He’s a pretty great guy, even if he makes me help with the stup

  • Awww 1 month!

Yes I know this is cheesetastic and lame but well I am cheesetastic and lame.

We made it one whole month and I am excited.  I know it’s silly and all but whatever, I’m a newlywed still!  HA!  I think we will go and celebrate tonight.  I’ve been craving Mexican food and Matt said we could go as long as it was the really good place close to our house.  Yes please.  I will not say no to yummy delicious food.

    Till tomorrow!

  • It’s about time!

So Wednesday was girl’s night and apparently while out I ate something weird because yesterday I felt like crap.  I actually woke up around 1 am and thought I was going to pass out.  Not fun.  Yesterday was spent lying on the couch watching movies.   Thankfully I feel better today.

We had an off-site meeting this afternoon for work so I was able to leave when the meeting was over.  Now I’m at home waiting on the hubs so we can go to Lowe’s and buy a new microwave.

True story – Matt’s microwave, the one over the stove, has not worked in ohhh, four years.  When I moved in I brought my little microwave that sits on the counter.  And now that the wedding is over we have a few more small appliances and no room for them.  Getting rid of the little microwave would add some counter space.  So I finally convinced Matt we MUST get a new one.  Thanks to all our spending and our cash back rewards, our credit card will end up paying for the new microwave.  Whoop whoop!  Now we just need to go get one and install it.  YAY!
